Caden smirked at that, before replying, "Right away, ma'am." He returned his focus to the mouse still sitting on the desk in front of him, racking his brains for the specific spell required, and then he gave a slight nod. He twirled his wand, and then muttered a barely audible incantation under his breath, before the spell took effect on the mouse. The transformation was slow, and the little animal looked like it was going through a fair bit of agony, but Caden turned away from it to instead cast a triumphant grin Millicent's way. "How's that?" he asked her.

Rodolphus studied Ginny for a few moments. "That really shouldn't surprise me." he told her. "Your family hasn't put out anything of worth in a long time. If you plan to make it through this class you will perfect that spell." he told her. "It will end poorly for you if you do not." he concluded his tone held a sinister quality. "I wouldn't have expected any less, Professor," she offered back dryly, privately thinking that this man didn't have a clue. If he did he'd know to be wary of her family - her brothers had already proven themselves to be dangerous in this war. However she wasn't stupid enough to say that out loud and his derision fitted with the image she was going for anyway. Dimly she was aware of Alex out of the corner of her eye shooting the Death Eater evils to his back, the look touching her a little - he really was a good guy... And of the exuberant Caden once again electing to draw a little heat from her by making a scene. SHe had to repress a grimace and slight disapproval as he blew up his mouse to do it, obviously not bothered by the cruetly, however it didn't change the warm feeling (if vaguely exasperated) that she had growing towards the Ravenclaw... Seriously how he wasn't a Gryffindor was a mystery. Ginny waited for the teacher to turn away before casting both boys a greatful look, mouth kicking up slightly in a silent thanks.

He studied Ginny for a moment. "Turn ones blood to water before the end of class or it will be unpleasant for you." He told her.
Turning to look over at the exploding mouse Rodolphus frowned. "How is that this class lacks the control over their magic that they should have?" He asked looking at the boy who had done it.
"Unless of course people are deliberately ignoring my instructions, which would make me very irritable." He added as he moved over to Caden.

Theo sighed. The other students were fools. They continued to draw attention to themselves repeatedly. One of them was going to try to help another and get seriously hurt for it.
Turning back to his mouse he attempted the transfiguration for the fifth time. The mouse squeaked softly and shivered as part of it burnt but it stopped after only a moment and scurried into a corner of the cage.

So far Draco hadn't even attempted the spell, to be honest he didn't feel at all inclined to do it. Not that that mattered in the end, but for now with the rukus the rest of the class was making maybe he could slip under the radar.

Alex caught Ginny's eye and offered her a concealed smile in return. He was grateful to Caden as well, despite the fact that he had once again drawn the attention of one of the instructors. Still, he was grateful to him. He had definitely succeeded in serving as a distraction for Lestrange.

Since she had been cursed, Pansy remained silent and stared at the white rodent in front of her, lips pursed in a thin line. She didn't pay attention to the students around her or the Professor, her shoulder bothering her. Theo had been right, it won't help her that she refused to take care of that cut.

Ginny eyed her mice, weighing up the chances of getting in trouble against her hatred of cruelty for a moment before a sudden thought occurred to her, her lips quirking up slightly.
He hadn't specified which kind of acid...
reaching out to capture her mouse, the girl started to cast in earnest, though the only outwards signs of her having any success as her attempts wore on was the little creature appearing to get more and more lethargic.

Rodolphus looked around the class room, and was surprised to see the youngest Weasley casting rapidly at the mouse. He moved around the room, every once in a while glancing back at her to see what was happening.

"Would you be so kind as to give a demonstration of the spell for changing another liquid to water?" he requested and indicated a mouse at the front of the class. He had ignored his Nephew for far to long, he should have been more observant himself.

Rodolphus looked up from the papers and nodded to Pansy. "You may Miss Parkinson." he answered. "You are expected to do the work, not have every single paper be identical. Everyone takes each assignment to the most detailed and straightforward answer, why is there not a single person who writes an essay with their own opinions, or theories?"

"Thank you, Sir," she said politely and took a seat where she usually sat during Transfiguration, not too close and not too far from the teacher's desk. "That is simple and you know why already, Professor," she shrugged. "We cannot have opinions of our own if we have no experience, if our only source is books. And we all study the same books, from the same library," she replied. "Sure, we can issue theories... but we were not encouraged to do so in the past, not in Transfiguration. Professor McGonnagal prefered a practical approach based on the text book. I always assumed she saved the best for last, as in teaching us the theories and in our seventh year allowing us to develop our own theories."
