[Caden McGinnis]

"Ooh, a frog," Caden smirked. "Sounds dreamy. I'll be sure to keep my eye out for anyone of that description. It'll be good to know who my rival is," he gave a decisive nod of his head.

[Leanna Barker]

Leanna wrinkled her nose and edged along the seat, away from him. "You don't have a rival because I'm not interested." She sat her bag between them, giving herself a barrier of sorts. "And he doesn't look like a frog. It was a joke."

[Caden McGinnis]

"Yeah, I know, but it was fun to keep the joke going," Caden informed her. "You really should play along more, you'd get more fun out of it." Leaning toward her and whispering gently in the girl's ear, "Just between the two of us, sunshine, I'm not interested either, but don't tell anyone. You'll ruin the ongoing joke we have going." He then quickly leaned away and held his forefinger to his lips, urging her silence further.

Leanna almost jerked back when Caden leaned over to her, but stayed still, letting him whisper his message. She reached out when he pulled back and flicked the back of his ear, not hard but not soft either. "Don't call me sunshine." she said gently, sipping her juice and looking at him over the rim of the glass.

[Ginny Weasley]

Ginny's eyebrows raised as she watched the interaction between the Ravenclaw boy and the psychotic witch, sharing a look with her table mates.

She didn't know who the boy was beyond being in the year above - she'd have to ask Neville later. Or perhaps Alex if she got the chance to talk to him again - but either way... how he had made it this far without feeling one of the Death Eater's wands was a mystery to her. Then again, maybe he hadn't and was just a masochist. That made more sense...

Lowering his voice, though more for the dramatic effect than his concern for his volume, "You should try causing a little trouble sometimes. It's way more fun."

Alex simply rolled his eyes in response to what Caden had said, "is it really?" However, as he observed his housemate's teasing with Leanna and her susceptibility to it, he couldn't help but smile very, very slightly. Despite how foolish his behavior seemed, it was more than a little amusing.

Gaze shifting briefly, Alex caught sight of Ginny's scrutiny and saw that slight astonishment there in reaction to Caden's display. He quickly looked away though and back to the boy beside him. He didn't want to draw any unnecessary attention to her.

Releasing a laugh at that, Caden reached up and absently rubbed his ear, informing Leanna, "'Fraid I can't do that, sweet thing. I find it to be the most fitting nickname for you, considering what a Debbie Downer you can be, and so sunshine is perfect because of the irony in it."

Glancing over at Alex, he responded in the most sure tone he could muster, "You better believe it. Take it from me, my man."

[Alexander Chevalier]

Alex sighed and shook his head, the smile remaining. "I probably couldn't get away with it in the same way you can. You're so...offhand about everything."

[Caden McGinnis]

"That's true," Caden allowed. "The more experienced you are at it, after all, the better you are at it. 'Cause you're more practiced at it and all that, and more confident in your abilities. Confidence really can do more for you than just about anything when it comes to...well, life," he finished with a grin.

[Alexander Chevalier]

"That's true," Alex agreed with a small nod, still wary and a little tense in reaction to Alecto's presence. However, he found himself relaxing just a little as the conversation progressed.

[Caden McGinnis]

"'Course it's true," the Raven smirked at his friend. "That's why I said it."

[Alexander Chevalier]

Alex rolled his eyes again in response to that, "right."

[Caden McGinnis]

"Sooo," Caden folded his arms on the table as he lifted his pastel gaze to the ceiling in thought, "let's see, what to talk about? Ah! Last year here. One more long stretch, and then we're in the clear! Onto working in the real world, being responsible, all that sh!t. You excited?"

Alex's eyes widened a little in response. What a question to ask at a time like this. He had absolutely no sense of setting. Still, he forced himself to remain calm. He was probably overreacting. Hopefully.

"Well," the boy responded, careful with his words. "I am a little excited, yes. I'm sure it will come with it's own set of challenges though."

"Doesn't everything?" Caden mused. "Pros and cons, though, right?"

[Alexander Chevalier]

Alex nodded, entirely agreeing. Everything had both positive and negative aspects. "Definitely."

Leanna scowled and simply stood up, gathering her bag and an apple, and left the Hall, not looking at anyone.

Caden nodded in response to Alex, before turning to watch as Leanna made her exit with a slight shake of his head. "She's not much for jokes, that one, is she?" he mused, returning his gaze to his other fellow Raven.

[Alexander Chevalier]

Alex permitted a small chuckle in response, unable to help himself as he also observed the red-head's departure. "No, not at all."

[Caden McGinnis]

"Pity," the boy noted. "Jokes make everything just a little bit better. Easier, too." With a grin, he stated, "I say, the best way of dealing with any difficult situation is to smile."

[Alecto Carrow]

"Oh darn," Alecto interjected dryly. "Am I no longer the center of attention?" She trailed her wand along the new boys back (Caden) "I do *so hate* not being the center of attention..." she said dryly her gaze on him falsely sweet.

[Caden McGinnis]

"Well, we'll just have to do something about that, then, won't we?" Caden turned in his seat to face the striking woman once more, fixing his pleasant smile on her. "That was rather rude of me, wasn't it? Excluding a lady as beautiful as yourself. Professor Carrow, I assure you, you now have my undivided attention."

[Alecto Carrow]

"Oh please Poppet, save your kissing up for the females under the age of 15," Alecto responded in a sugary tone and with a small smirk. "Though to be fair I should always have your undivided attention when I am around. Always." The woman petted his head as one would a small animal.

[Caden McGinnis]

"Well, of course you should. You're the professor, after all, the one with all the power, and so whatever you want pretty much goes, and we've just established you hate not being the center of attention," Caden pointed out with a slight shrug of his shoulders. "And to clear the air, it's not so much kissing up as it's stating a fact. You're pretty damn gorgeous."

[Alecto Carrow]

Her gaze flicked over him .... she wasn't sure she liked him very much. Though he seemed quite intelligent... though it was almost the most fun to make the ones who always had a response incoherent with pain. She smiled a bit to herself "I don't know you. Rectify that mistake."

"As you wish, professor," Caden gave a slight inclination of his head. "It's only polite to make introductions, isn't it? I'm Caden McGinnis, 7th year in the Raven house. And you'd be Miss Alecto Carrow, the new Muggle Studies teacher, if I'm not mistaken?"

[Alecto Carrow]

"I know who I am," Alecto responded "However, I expect more than simply your name, year or house. So by all means, Mr. McGinnis -continue."

[Caden McGinnis]

"Of course, madam, though I can't say I'll be able to tell you everything I possibly could in just one sitting if you really want to get to know me," Caden pointed out, a smirk forming. "But, I'll tell you what I can. I'll go ahead and start with a bit of family backdrop. I'm from Ireland, family name has kind of been past through some royalty there, so my mom was always convinced she was marrying a prince," he released a chuckle at that. "They like to host alot of parties, too. Or just go to parties in general, socializing with the elite, all that. They're both kinda pampered snobs, brought up in upperclass pureblood society and all, but whatever. Who can blame 'em? I was pretty close to my grandfather on my mom's side, but he died a couple years back. Sorta tore me up, too."

He paused here, musing, "Kind of got off topic there, but I went ahead and added that for your benefit. Every story should have some emotional appeal, don't you think?"

[Alecto Carrow]

Alecto smiled a bit "Oh I agree... though I'm sorry I missed a true display of your emotion, I also think that our meeting might be missing a bit of that. So... I'll tell you what, why don't I let you help me out with something?"

Alex stiffened the instant Alecto claimed Caden's attention, the severe reality of the situation returning at once. She was distracted, but only for the moment. He did not like the new direction of the conversation between she and his housemate. He remained quiet and still, simply listening and dreading the conclusion of the tense situation.
