Alexander and Pansy

[Pansy Parkinson]

"There's a lot you don't know about me, and vice-versa," the Slytherin shrugged. "It's not like we've been friends."

[Alexander Chevalier]

"Good point," Alex nodded, before pausing to consider. "Perhaps it would've been more accurate to say that it was just a little unexpected."

[Pansy Parkinson]

Pansy chuckled before taking a sip of juice.
"Expect the unexpected Alexander," she winked and started to eat.

[Alexander Chevalier]

Wasn't that the truth? "You'd think I would've learned that by now," Alex replied with a small smile. "After everything that has happened this term especially." He hadn't expected any of it. For these Death Eaters to take over the school, for his and the other student's lives to shift so suddenly, for his own confliction when it came to each side, and even his fascination with one of those Death Eaters. It was sort of...remarkable, in a strange way.

[Pansy Parkinson]

"I agree, this term is... life changing," she nodded as she served herself some roast.
"But it has good sides too. We learn about stuff we wouldn't be learning about in other circumstances."

[Alexander Chevalier]

"I agree," Alex nodded, sincerity taking his gaze. "Completely. We've all...grown up a little. We're having to consider things that never occurred to us before."

[Pansy Parkinson]

Pansy chuckled lightly, gazing at the Ravenclaw.
"Speak for yourself," she said, pointing her fork at him as she spoke.

[Alexander Chevalier]

"Right," Alex replied, titling his head a little. Yes, he supposed she had already been considering all of this for quite some time. "You Slytherins were more prepared for this than any of us."

[Pansy Parkinson]

"No, we weren't. Trust me, none of us are prepared for this term," Pansy shook her head and sighed, her shoulder still stinging a bit from the cutting curse she had received in Lestrange's class.

[Alexander Chevalier]

"Well...no, I suppose not," Alex replied with a small nod. He then shrugged, "but perhaps a little more. I mean, you knew a little more about what they expect from us, I think." He tilted his head then at her sigh, "...you feel okay?"

[Pansy Parkinson]

"Yeah, well we did grow up with Death Eaters," she chuckled dryly.
"I'm good. Should've listened to Theo and get the cut looked after," she sighed and added more gravy on her steak.

[Alexander Chevalier]

"Why didn't you?" Alex asked, a little curious about that. Was it pride, perhaps?

[Pansy Parkinson]

"Leave in the middle of Lestrange's class for a cut on the shoulder? That would have been seen as weakness and I don't want Lestrange to think I am that fragile," she shook her head.

[Alexander Chevalier]

"But you regret not having done it?" Alex asked before looking to her shoulder. "You could still have it looked at." The truth of it was, though, that every single one of those Death Eaters outweighed them in strength. Pansy, himself, all the other students were fragile in comparison. It was a dismal situation. He had to keep looking ahead though. He had to trust in Ginny and the other members of Dumbledore's Army. He could only hope people like the girl before him could be saved too. Would she oppose him when the time came?

[Pansy Parkinson]

"It will just take a bit longee to heal, that's all," the Slytherin replied. She had no intention to visit the Hospital Wing any time soon, though she was amused at how concerned Alexander seemed.
"Something on your mind?" she asked him.

[Alexander Chevalier]

"Suit yourself," Alex responded before he simply looked to her in silence following her question. He couldn't reveal much about his thoughts, the existence of Dumbledore's Army intended to be secret. "Just...thinking over our situation," he shrugged. He lowered his eyes a little, "I don't know how much worse it's going to get."

[Pansy Parkinson]

"Yeah, as always," Pansy replied to his first comment.
"I doubt it will get any better," she added and took a sip of juice.

[Alexander Chevalier]

"I doubt it too," Alex replied with a nod. "At least not for awhile anyway. Someone has to oppose them at some point." They wouldn't just be getting away with what they were doing. They'd gone too far.

[Pansy Parkinson]

"Oh really? Who might that be? Dumbledore is dead, McGonagall is MIA, Pomfrey doesn't move a finger, Snape is hiding in his office, the former Ministry is gone and the Golden Boy is nowhere to be found," she whispered huskily, leaning closer to Alexander, anger in her eyes.

[Alexander Chevalier]

Alex blinked, a little surprised by Pansy's sudden show of ferocity. Laying it all out like that certainly put it into perspective and he could see why she was so skeptical. However..."I wasn't talking about anyone in specific. It was more from a general standpoint." He sighed, "I mean, you really think they're just going to pull all this off unopposed? The first Wizarding war was bad, it was worse than this, but they were still defeated."

[Pansy Parkinson]

Pansy leaned back in her chair and gazed at the Ravenclaw for a long moment.
"We'll see," she commented and went back to her dinner.

[Alexander Chevalier]

"If you were offered a chance to get out of this," Alex indicated Pansy's shoulder here. "Would you take it?" He wondered what her choice would be, if it were left entirely up to her. "Don't think about your house or your family or expectations, but if it were completely your choice?" She had already mentioned that she wanted to work for the Ministry and travel. He wondered how loyal she actually was to the Death Eaters.

[Pansy Parkinson]

"Not if it meant abbandoning my friends," the girl said after a short moment of silence.
"Either we all get out of this, or we share the same faith."

[Alexander Chevalier]

Alex smiled at that before nodding. He could definitely respect her choice. Her reasons were in the right place. "I understand that," he responded. "That's very loyal of you."

[Pansy Parkinson]

"You mean for a Slytherin?" she chuckled.

[Alexander Chevalier]

"Well, in general," Alex responded with a smirk. "It's a good trait for anyone."

[Pansy Parkinson]

"I know quite a few people who would disagree," she shrugged.
"You aren't eating?" she then asked, gazing at his plate. He had barely touched his food it seemed.

[Alexander Chevalier]

"Oh?" Alex asked her, tilting his head curiously. It seemed most anyone would value loyalty, in some form or another. Even the Dark Lord himself. "I would've thought it'd be of importance to most." He glanced down at her next question then, realizing that he had been overlooking actually eating his meal. "I...have a tendency to get sidetracked during conversation." He smiled a bit apologetically to the girl before lifting his fork and taking a bite.

[Pansy Parkinson]

"Yes, if you are loyal to them," Pansy said dryly. "If you are to others, friends for instance, then it's a weakness," she sighed.
"No worries," she then smiled back to the Ravenclaw and took another bite of her steak.

[Alexander Chevalier]

When Alex had finished his bite, he took a moment to consider what the girl had said. "Well...I think that loyalty can grant you some bit of strength though. Especially in times like these. It'll give you the strength to defend the people you care for." And, honestly, wasn't that the most important thing?
