A nice comfortable room for people (on two opposite sides?) to get to know one another.

Alecto walked into the room, she looked around before flopping down into the overstuffed armchair, her legs over the arms of it.

Alex paused and inhaled deeply, hesitating only a moment before entering the room and looking to the woman whom already looked as if she'd made herself comfortable. He strode forward slowly, stopping beside where she sat and gazing down at her somewhat uncertainly.

"Hey," he began, wondering what else to say. He had been the one to ask her to meet with him here after all. He was practically inviting trouble for himself and he questioned his own sanity in the matter. "Thanks..." he started, somewhat flatly. It sounded strange to be saying something so...ordinary to her. "For coming."

Her gaze flicked over him, she allowed her head to fall back, dark hair falling over the arm of the chair as she looked up at him. "Of course... but *why* am I here?"

When she looked up at him like that, Alex felt his fascination with her slowly return. It wasn't as surprising as it had been previously, as he was now a little more familiar with it. However, it didn't fail to heighten the sensation he felt just from considering her. Momentarily distracted by the way her hair was splayed over the arm of the chair, he forced his mind to focus on her question. It was a good one. He was wondering the same thing himself. What did he want with her?

"You told me that I can't defend against the darker forms of magic because I don't understand it," he started, finding a semblance of truth in that explanation. However, it definitely didn't encompass all of it. He primarily wanted an opportunity to try and satiate his curiosity of her. It had relentlessly plagued him since their interaction in the Hospital Wing. He tilted his head, "would you be willing to help me out with that?"

Alecto's red lips quirked in amusement "Let me get this straight... you want me to explain dark magic to you so that you can better defend yourself against it? -Perhaps I prefer you defenseless."

"Perhaps," Alex responded, answering her look of amusement with a small smirk. "But, if your intent is to continue sparring with me, this might make it a little more interesting for you."

Alecto blinked and crossed one leg over the other, befor making a lazy motion with her wrist for him to sit "Who said I didn't find it interesting..."

There was no denying that she often found it interesting, much less amusing, to have the opportunity to inflict her skill over other people. Alex shifted and turned to sit in the chair beside hers, "that's true." He looked to her, "but it might make it more interesting." His smirk widened a little, "I'm only speculating though. I guess the real question is whether or not you actually do prefer me to be defenseless."

Alecto cast him an amused look "Defenseless can be fun..."

She sighed and let her head fall back, looking at the ceiling "Though just because someone has weaker defenses doesn't make them defenseless, just somewhat ineffective."

"Hm, I see..." Alex replied, trailing off as he continued to observe her. "Ineffective." Which wasn't necessarily something he wanted to be either. His thoughts strayed to the positioning of her person, lazily lounged upon that chair, head back and relaxed. It was sort of opposite to what he was used to seeing. She had usually always been so active and invigorated. Now she just looked more...subdued. More approachable in a way.

"Well, the decision is yours, of course," he responded finally, somewhat composing himself. "I might simply try and research it myself, though I'm sure you could provide a much deeper understanding."

Alecto shot him a grin "Research it yourself? How so?... Well, *now* I'm interested. I'll tell you what, you research some of the dark spells yourself and try to figure out how to best combat them and then I'll test you by seeing if you're able to or not."

Now this sounded fun, the more she thought on it, the more fun it sounded.

And Alex supposed that was the most he could ask of her. That grin of hers definitely relayed her interest. He again had to consider what he'd just invited her to do. Those 'tests' had the potential to not be very pleasant experiences. Still, it really was one of the only ways to learn. Through practice. "Well, that's very kind of you," he responded, a very slight tone of sarcasm evident before it took a more sincere turn, "I appreciate the help."

"Yes well I am known for my general kindness," Alecto responded plesantly ignoring the sarcasm.

"I'm sure there are some books around here, by all means... get to work," the woman stated with an amused half grin.

Alex quirked a brow and looked to the bookshelf. He hadn't really expected to immediately start on this. Where to look first? This reminded him of many hours spent researching for various classes. They weren't really assigned to do much of that anymore but, he supposed the nostalgia of it was nice. There was a certain sort of enjoyment he derived from the simple act of studying.

He glanced to Alecto a final time before standing and walking over to the shelf, scanning the titles and trying to find something that related to what he was looking for. He also wondered how much he'd actually learn from a book anyway. At least it was a start, if nothing else. Selecting one, he somewhat absently opened it to conduct a brief examination of its contents.

"By the way," he asked without turning. "Did you ever get a chance to read that novel I told you of?"

"The Wonderland one?" Alecto asked picking up a random magazine off of the table and thumbing through it. "I can't say I've had much chance to go on a hunt for Muggle books as of late..."

[Alexander Chevalier]

"No," Alex replied before closing his current book and returning it to the shelf. "I suppose you wouldn't." He paused, scanning a few more titles, before selecting another and sifting through it. It looked a little more promising. He carried it with him before lowering himself to the floor, reclining against the seat behind him and reopening the book to read it further. He was actively aware of the woman as she flipped through the pages of her magazine. "So, you researched all of this after leaving Hogwarts?"

Alecto's gaze flicked to the boy, she rose a curious brow at his sitting on the floor when perfectly acceptable seats were available but let it go for now "Researched all of what? The spells? Not at all, there were people here with the information, not to mention resources readily available at home."

"Ah, that's right," Alex nodded as he remembered. "You mentioned that you researched the Dark Arts further after leaving the school. Was it something you were always interested in, then?"

[Alecto Carrow]

She tilted her head studying him "It was… the thought of a magic I wasn't allowed to learn intrigued me."

[Alexander Chevalier]

"The mystery of it?" Alex asked then, glancing up at her. He could certainly understand how intriguing a mystery could be. "Or just the whole forbidden aspect of it all?"

[Alecto Carrow]

"Does it have to be one or the other?" Alecto asked turning her attention back to the magazine. "On the other end, does it just have to be those two?" Her gaze flicked over to him through her lashes "Perhaps I enjoy the *feel* of it…"

Alex blinked, stunned for a moment by that look she cast him, as well as her response. Almost everything she said was in an implicit tone, rarely confirming anything. It was...speculative, which only frustratingly added to the aspects he found most fascinating about her.

"And what is that feeling like?"

[Alecto Carrow]

"You can't describe it… that's why it's a feeling," Alecto responded simply titling her head to the side. "Why… did you want me to show you?"

"Show me?" Alex asked softly, a little uncertain as to how exactly she intended to do that. "...sure." He tried to keep his expression neutral, masking the trace of confusion.

Alecto slipped her legs down from the chair and turned in the seat before standing, "Come on then."

What did she have planned? The confusion grew but also the curiosity. Alex set the book aside before slowly rising to stand beside her. He examined her expression but could determine nothing.

"Lift your wand," Alecto ordered before moving to stand behind him after he did so. she lifted her arm mirroring his and wrapped her hand around his. "You ready?" she asked in his ear.

Alex felt a slight shiver in reaction to both her voice in his ear and the feel of her hand over his. It was a different sort of chill than the one he had experienced in fear. This was one was accompanied with a strange sort of warmth. He was lost in that sensation a moment before managing a nod. "Yes," he breathed. She was so...close. He couldn't move, transfixed by her proximity.

She could almost feel his reaction to her and smirked softly. Letting go of his hand for a moment she made a large bug appear "Don't worry it's not your muggle friend," she taunted with a gentle laugh. She then resheathed her wand and took his hand again "What you'll do is mov your wand like this," she showed him the movement "and you'll whisper the words Nighmaraus Ignitum."

It was the nightmare spell, Amycus really favored this one- she had a feeling the intense power rush of the cruccio wouldn't appeal as much to the boy as much the slow, lapping peace and enjoyment of the Nightmare curse, as it slowly took any happiness from who you were torturing and gave it to you the spell feeding off of the person or creatures energy. It was like a sweet pull of candy or a lullaby...
