Great Hall

[Theo Nott]

Theo looked up when the debat hit a bit of personal space. He watched the two in a bit of amusement, Draco always was fun to watch when he worked. Listening to the end of the conversation and watching his housemate leave he sighed and turned back to Leanna. "You should know family is not something that you mention negatively around people. It tends to garner a poor reaction from them, and even more so if something of note, either good or bad has happened in the recent past." he paused as he ate a few pieces of bacon.

"I would suggest that you don't speak with him again, until he approaches you first." he told her. "When you do, make sure you do not bring up the topic of his family again. While I agree with you about Mrs. Lestrange, Mr. Malfoy has done many good things for our society."

[Leanna Barker]

Leanna scowled a little, wrapping an arm around her waist. "In the seven years we've known each other, have you ever known me to be able to shut my mouth?" She fisted a hand in her red curls and tugged a little. "Okay, don't approach him. Don't bring up family." she tapped her head with her knuckles and nodded. "I can do that. I remember everything else."

[Theo Nott]

"No." Theo answered. "You always seemed to be capable of inserting your foot into it though."

[Leanna Barker]

She rolled her eyes. "So, I need to practise shutting my mouth. I need someone to follow me around and wack me across the back of the head if it looks like I'm going to do something stupid. Or a hex. Something." Leanna dropped her head onto the table. "Why did I have to get Mother's way with words."

[Alecto Carrow]

Alecto Carrow made her way through the Great Hall. Yes. She could have used the staff entrance, but this was much, much more fun. As the woman made her way along the tables she offered smiles to the students, the intent of these smiles were less than obvious. She even went so far as to nip a busict off of a nearby platter.

[Theo Nott]

Theo's eyes tracked the professor even as he continued to talk to Leanna. "No you just need to learn how to filter what you say." he said.

[Leanna Barker]

"I never seem to find the right thing to say. Maybe silence would be best. Be a nice change for you wouldn't it." Leanna shot a grin at him then turned her head to follow his gaze. She saw Alecto walking through the hall and her mouth slowly closed.

[Alecto Carrow]

Alecto noticed several students looking her way, but only one was her potential pet. She made her way over to Theo Nott.

[Theo Nott]

"It would be a change yes." Theo agreed with Leanna. "But not necessarily a good one." he added before turning to face his professor appropriately, as she approached. "Professor." Theo greeted respectfully.

[Leanna Barker]

Leanna gave him a one shouldered shrug in reply. "I think it'll be good for me." she said, her mouth closing when Alecto approached them, her head turning away as she faced her own table. "Good luck." she muttered to the Slytherin boy and found herself a piece of toast to munch on, not willing to abandon her friend at this point of time.

[Theo Nott]

Theo listened to what Leanna said and gave a small nod, indicating that he heard her. Other than that he waited for the professor to address him.

[Alecto Carrow]

"Mr. Nott," Alecto commented her gaze flicking to the Ravenclaw girl. "Unable to find good company?"

[Theo Nott]

"Better than it has been in years past." he replied easily, even if inside he was nervous. The professor was an intimidating woman, and he did not want to get on her bad side.

[Alecto Carrow]

That was a curious response "How so?"

[Theo Nott]

"With the way that Dumbledore ran this place, it was hard to be able to have a bit of quiet at meal times." Theo replied. "Along with that, it was hard to have any conversation that had any etiquette, or politeness involved, because of that favoritism shown to the mudbloods, and blood traitors."

[Professor Sprout]

Pomona entered the Great Hall, as always when she came from the Green Houses, by the same door as the students.
She walked to the Professors' table, gazing around at the children.

[Alecto Carrow]

Alecto tilted her head and gave him a subtle smirk "Really? ... I was under the impression you sat with those in your house during meal times... or is it the Slytherins that lack etiquette and politeness?"

[Theo Nott]

"No, not at all." Theo replied knowing his wording had been bad looking back on it. "I meant more that the whole hall had to deal with them regardless of where you sat." He added. "The professors let them be as loud and do what ever they wanted." He amended.

[Alecto Carrow]

"And they came to your table?" she asked raising a brow "In my time at Hgowarts other houses knew not to mess with Slytherin…"

[Theo Nott]

"Yes ma'am they did." Theo replied. "Mostly to harass us, if and when we retaliated, the professors would punish us. The only person who looked out for us was Headmaster Snape."

[Alecto Carrow]

Alecto rose a brow, their Slytherin house sounded weak. It wouldn't have happened back in her day. She studied Nott, unable to decide if she liked him or not. "Well, it seems you're keeping different company now." She pointed to the Ravenclaw table "What's her blood status?"

[Theo Nott]

"Pure-blood." Theo replied, not knowing about her father.

[Alecto Carrow]

The woman studied him "Are you sure, or guessing?"

[Theo Nott]

"To my knowledge she is a pure blood." Theo replied.

[Alecto Carrow]

"You don't even know for sure? … Yet you still associate with her?" Alecto asked raising a brow.

[Alexander Chevalier]

Alex made his way into the Great Hall and paused in the doorway before glancing towards his house table and hesitating, spotting Alecto Carrow and Theo Nott. However, he decided to try and ignore it before quietly taking a seat, offering the woman a small nod by way of greeting.

[Theo Nott]

Theo nodded. "Everything I could find stated that she is pure-blooded." he replied. "I am as certain as I can be without digging into the records at her family home." he added, having done some research on his friends and acquaintances because his father had demanded he do so, before socializing with them.

[Alecto Carrow]

"Right… well.." She reached out ruffled his hair before pulling it so his head tilted back "Dig. It's better to know for sure after all."

Seeing the new student Alecto rose a brow "And you are?"

[Alexander Chevalier]

Alex's eyes immediately shifted to Alecto, somewhat defensive and guarded. It seemed avoiding her was impossible. The woman missed nothing. "Chevalier. Alex," he nodded again, as politely as he could manage, "Mademoiselle."

[Theo Nott]

Theo's eyes widened slightly at her touch. He had not been expecting that at all, but it wasn't unpleasant. He nodded when she pulled on his hair. "yes, Professor." he answered her, making a mental note to dig deeply into Leanna's family history, along with anyone else he was acquainted with.

He watched as Alecto's attention was pulled to the other student. He watched in morbid fascination as the boy replied, seemingly without knowing exactly who he was speaking with.
