"Around the world and bak again," Alecto responded in a sing-song voice. "For you see that's what we've done. Made a circle, and when you make a circle you end where?- At the start. And where did we start?"
She looked at the boy for a moment before answering for him "War."
Her gaze flicked over the intelligent youth before her "Like it or not, we're in one. And when you're in a war, the leaders talk the soldiers fight. I am a dedicated solider for my cause. I am here to fight." She considered for a moment before adding "Though to be fair, I have tried explaining the ways to some students, however all are not as… receptive, as you. Case in point, Young Miss. Weasley, who has been taught by her blood traitor family that muggles are just *misunderstood*. Who wish to learn from Muggles, the same beings who would wish to kill them. As you saw in class, even with blatant proof of Muggle perceptions and reception of witchcraft she *still* insisted that the muggles were not to blame for their actions and only the threat of violence could get her to show the proper loyalty towards her own kind."
"*That", Mr. Commitment is what we're dealing with, and what we don't have tim to deal with. Muggles outnumber us 50 to 1, we need to get our forces in tow before we can even consider approaching theirs. Time: time to please, time to pander, time to coddle, is not a luxury we're willing to waste anymore. War- there are always casualties, and those come from *both* sides."

Alex held her gaze, fierce as it was and then sighed before nodding. "Yes, I see your point. Even in this school, there has been division. Between the houses. Nothing can really be achieved, I suppose, as long as there's that sense of segregation."
He thought of what she had said about Ginny then and silently reflected on that day in class. He had seen that the girl had considered Alecto's words. For a moment. But then she tried to explain her own views in a more...threatening manner. Nothing could be achieved through immediate accusations. It almost seemed a hopeless cause...
"I'm simply an idealist, I suppose," Alex responded as he lowered his eyes. "I haven't experienced as much as you have, I'm sure. I only catch a glimpse. We're in a war and we, the students, are it's hostages. It's just the way things are."

"No," Alex assured her, his smile lingering. "I think I've entirely recovered from my sickness." She had opened up to him about her thoughts, allowed him to explain his and had proven herself to be all the more fervent towards her cause. Did he...admire that about her? He was starting to think so.
He tilted his head, "and yes, you're right. There's a lot to thank you for. You've challenged me, yet again, and compelled me into viewing things a bit differently. I have really appreciated this opportunity." The opportunity to speak with her and really begin to see her for who she was.

Alecto shot him an amused look and lifted a hand pinching his cheek (though for once the action wasn't hard in punishment) "Keep saying things like that and you'll end up with a nickname like Precious."
He was amusing, and interesting, and not in the obnoxious way his mate was- but in a more endearing one. She might collect him too… she wasn't sure what she'd do with him yet, but then again he may not mind being collected and she did so love interesting people.

Alex didn't flinch when she touched him this time, the previous chill entirely absent. He observed the look in her eyes, that analyzing stare of hers. It was an appraising sort of look. He wasn't sure what it meant, but decided against dwelling on it too deeply. "Precious, huh? Well, I might try to avoid that one. Sounds a little..." he tilted his head in amusement, "possessive."

"Oh no, I'm starting to see that," Alex responded with a small smile. His thoughts then turned to Amycus and he recalled that day in class where he had stared him down, analyzing like his sister but perhaps more sinister. "Your twin...no offense, but he is a bit creepy. You're undoubtedly aware though." He tilted his head, "but it must be nice to have a sibling. I've often wondered myself what it'd be like."

Alecto laughed "Of course I'm aware, he's quite proud of it in fact- though I'm pretty sure he wouldn't use the word creepy. He'd probably prefer the term sinister or... ominous, just for reference." The woman leaned back on the palms of her hands once more. "Bold of you to make that comment to me of all people. And yes, I very much so enjoy having a twin, or a yang if you will..."

"The words 'sinister' did cross my mind," Alex admitted, glancing her way as she leaned back on her hands. "And, I suppose it was a little bold...though I've been speaking my mind quite a bit to you in the last several minutes." He pondered her final statement, "yin and yang, huh? Yes, that certainly seems fitting."

"Alright," Alex responded, glancing down as he pondered it more fully. "It's really all very much beneath the surface, I guess. What drives the two of you. Now, I really don't know all that much about Amycus, but his motivation seems to rely primarily on the emotional and sensational drive of all this."
He paused, trying to figure out how best to word it. "He seems to have a certain...lurking anger beneath it all. And that fuels him. You have it too, but you're driven more by your logic. You are doing this for all the reasons you've said, and that rather than your emotions is what drives you. Your conviction in all of this. Also...you're considerably more impulsive and playful. Whereas he...plots and ponders. You do a lot of things for your personal amusement, while he pauses to consider and logs it away for future reference. He seems to prefer the build up, the silent stalking and...sinister factor. You want results, split-decisions. You instigate a certain pressure for immediate responses."
"So, you two are opposites in that way, but as represented by yin and yang, you are in complete harmony. You play off your differences and, together, provide a rather...foreboding and united front." He shrugged, "just my own speculation on the matter though."
He smirked and lifted his eyes, "you get this twisted smile on your face, hinting and implying. It's probably one of the most intimidating things about you. Acting so...nonchalant about it. But your brother...well, from personal experience, he stays completely quiet and just...leers at you. The other day in class I...said something I shouldn't have and...he just..." Here Alex glanced to her, considering, before leaning closer, eyes held on her face and trying to adopt the same sort of expression Amycus had used. "Stares. And inspects you."

Alecto looked over at him, her gaze amused as she listened to his explanation and that amusement growing at his actions. Raising a brow she looked at him, moving in as well so that they were almost nose to nose "You are odd."
She tilted her head lightly as she often does "And to be fair, Amycus is the more impulsive out of the two of us. My brother feeds on emotion in a more... primal type of way. Yes, he enjoys observations and yes he stores it away but... he's likely to use the information instantly as well. A trait I happen to enjoy watching."
She was quite use and prone to pulling her twin back, he liked to do as he felt at the time. What popped into his head, what felt good, what was pleasing to the eye or had an interesting feel. He didn't think he just did, then later he pondered. So while he stored the information for later, he still acted mostly on his current impulses.
"I admit, this is the first time I've been called the impulsive one out of the two of us... then again, you've not had much chance to watch us play side by side have you? Shall I arrange an occasion?" Alecto winked as she offered, the grin lingering on her face.

"Hm..." Alex responded, not even feeling inclined to pull away as she neared him. Those eyes of hers were even more stunning up close like this. "Well, I suppose that depends on what you have in mind? If you meant I could merely silently observe you, at a safe distance, I might consider it."
He supposed that perhaps, when it came to the more important decisions, it was probably Alecto who was the least impulsive of the two, being that she was so primarily logic-based. Emotional reactions, alternatively, were just impulsive in general. However, when it came to the small things the woman did, such as deciding to play healer for the day, those were small and impulsive bouts of playfulness.

"Well," Alex responded, "to be fair, you did voice that offer as a question. Though, I suppose, my consideration isn't as necessarily imperative as I implied there." His expression turned contemplative, "perhaps, your possessive tendencies aren't such a bad thing at all."
So, she was the older of the two huh? Even among twins, he had observed it still made a bit of difference. He'd suspected as much in the mere way she spoke of him. It seemed she was rather protective where he was concerned.

"Perhaps," Alecto agreed finally pulling back, the boy was obviously fascinated with her, something she found that she enjoyed. It was a different type of enjoyment from the one she had felt from his earlier fear, but still not an unpleasant thing.
"So, Precious, do you have any particular skill sets besides observation?" Alecto asked resuming her previous position on leaning back on her hands and looking over at the boy next to her.

"Of course it's lacking, how can you defend appropriately against something you don't understand?" Alecto responded rolling her eyes. "That was something I found once I left Hogwarts, and began to study more of the Dark Arts- I was far from prepared to defend against it- hell I hadn't even heard of most of the spells because they weren't taught. Basically you're fought to defend in general but you don't know what you're defending against- so…"

"That's a really good point," Alex nodded, tilting his head and pondering that. It was true, they really only vaguely discussed the opposing spells in their previous curriculum. He shook his head, "I'm sure the ministry just doesn't want the students learning anything about those spells, or even enticing their interest in them. I sort of picked up on that with Umbridge when she was here. She and the minister were afraid Hogwarts was preparing the students to overthrow them."

"Deloris?" Alecto gave a low laugh, "She loves the Dark Arts, always has, though she is in a bit of trouble right now -poor dear."
The woman gave a tisk though the laughter in her tone relayed the fact that she wasn't quite so broken up about the prospect as she pretended to be.

Alex listened to the sound of Alecto's laughter. It was true, he hated Umbridge, she was two-faced and cowardly. However, he had to wonder just how much trouble she was in now. It was just a little unfortunate to consider.
As the conversation was met with a brief silence, he sighed and lowered his gaze, as the image of Caden lying on the ground and screaming seeped back into his mind. Alecto had shown a certain amount of enjoyment during that instance too. He already knew, of course, that she found amusement in the pain of others, it was just so easy to overlook that side of her while simply talking to her like this.
Her conviction to her cause was admirable, her personality intrigued him, and her outlook fascinated him. She spoke of her devotion so fervently and had logically conveyed her reasons for the considerably violent actions she committed. But the one thing that wasn't so easily pardonable was the fact that she...enjoyed it. She had said it was something she had to do in order to achiever her goal, which was on oddly selfless one in the way she worded it, being for future generations and all.
However...her actions and disposition while doing these things she had to do sort of contradicted that. Perhaps it had been an adjustment over time, maybe she had learned to find enjoyment in order to cope with actually doing the same thing time and time again. He could hardly say but...could he really just condone that? It was so unfortunate because of how immensely interesting she was. It just seemed to be a double-edged sword with her.
He again wondered how she had arrived at this point and slowly returned his gaze to her before hesitating a moment. Would she be willing to answer this question? "There's something else I wanted to ask you, by the way," Alex began calmly. "What's your story? I mean, what inspired this devotion of yours?"

Alecto looked at the boy next to her, a single brow rising in question "My story?… Hmm… well I suppose I'm not surprised you ask, I mean considering your perception of myself and my twin it's perfectly logical to wonder how and why we ended up enjoying the things we do…" a playful smile lingered on her lips as if amused by the thought of those "things" they do. "However, why I would open myself up to telling you, Precious, I'm not sure…"

Alex tilted his head then, analyzing what she had said. He inferred that it was most likely something personal. She was more than willing to discuss the details of her views and mindset, but when it came down to this...he was delving quite a bit deeper. Into the origin of her and all that she was.
His curiousity ignited once again. That relentless intrigue returned in full. Alex searched her eyes, which were withholding yet a great deal more.
He sighed, "I suspected you might decide against it." He shook his head before biting his lip gently and then hesitating before slowly lifting a hand and tentatively tracing his fingertips down her cheek. Damn his curiosity. "Curiosity killed the cat," he murmured almost to himself. It was a phrase his mother often used when he was young.

A compulsory grin crossed Alex's face at the woman's response as he ducked slightly beneath her hand. What the hell? Try and live in the moment, right? The strangest thing was that he was actually starting to like her company...somewhat. Tentative as it was. He figured he might as well enjoy it while it lasted. His curiosity lingered and his reservations about her were momentarily repressed.
He tilted his head and lowered his own hand from her face, "I'll try and ask you again sometime. About your past, I mean."

"Oh, definitely," Alex assured her. He was under no delusion that he was still going to have to exercise caution while within her presence. Despite the lack of instilled anxiety, she was still every bit as intimidating. He then sighed and tilted his head, "I'll just hope the answer might eventually change. If not..." he shook his head before looking to her with a small smirk. "It might drive me crazy."
