Her eyes were intense as she held his, weighting up how much she could dare saying in this setting.
"He's using Hogwarts to keep the populice in line," she continued. "The longer he has power here the more the resistance will struggle in the rest of the country. Children from most of the magical families are here, not to mention all the minor families, halfbloods and muggleborns. The students here are his hostages, that's why he's sent his dogs to babysit us and that's why no one pulled out when he reinstated Snape as Headmaster. They can't. If they do he accuses them of trying to run and being guilty of treason, but as long as they're here he has a noose around their necks. They have to toe the line and behave or he can use their children to punish them."

"That makes sense," Alex nodded, considering her words once more. It was an extremely bleak situation. He was admittedly a little impressed that the girl was able to discern the actions of the Dark Lord and his followers so thoroughly. Her view was not jaded by their lies whatsoever.
He sighed and looked to her sincerely, "what can be done about it though?" They were such a threatening and powerful force. It'd be a difficult endeavor for anyone.

"Whatever we can," she returned simply, tone firm and filled with the confidence of someone that knew it had to be all or nothing. "We need to break Voldemort's hold on the school if we're ever to have a chance at winning, thats all there is to it."
"The question is," the redhead added, gaze level. "Is if you're willing to risk trying?"

Alex was again struck by the girl's profound and fervent vigor. She was so assured of her path. Up until now, he had always kept to himself, merely observing events as they unfolded and suffering in silence. No one had ever challenged it. He had never challenged himself.
Thinking of his father, he thought of how the man always vehemently expressed his views and opinions. However, the man only ever voiced his objections, wrong as they were, without making any movements. Despite how fortunate a thing that was, the principle was the same. All talk and no action. Ever.
But he wanted to be different. He didn't want to follow the man's example. This girl was offering him an opportunity to actually step out of the shadows he had secured himself within and try to offer his aid where it was needed. And, if the school somehow managed to unite against even such an overpowering force, there was a very slim opportunity for success.
But everyone needed to step up. Himself included. If he backed out, and continued hiding, he might survive but he would also regret it. That wasn't much of a life. Something stirred within him and, looking to Ginny, he inhaled briefly before slowly nodding. His choice was made.
"Yes," he responded firmly. It was true. The second he voiced his reply, a weight was lifted. This was the right thing to do.

Slowly the redhead's lips curved up, eyes lighting with approval as she considered the boy before her, gaze flickering carefully over his person before she gave a slow nod.
"I'm glad you feel that way," she admitted, a note of honesty in her tone. "I might have some friends who'd like to meet you if you're sure... But it's a big decision. You need to be certain. There's no backing out once you've made up your mind."
Theirs was to precarious a position for that. Trust was paramount in the DA these days. Godric knew, you had to be able to trust your brothers and sisters there, otherwise how could you count on them to be there when you needed? Or not to spill about the things that could get them all killed if they were caught?
She could see a strength of character in the Ravenclaw that she both liked and that gave her the feeling that Alex didn't agree to anything lightly - it was probably why she was being so reckless in her frankness with him. The boy was far from stupid after all. He undoubtedly knew the ramifications of what she was offering. Still, Ginny felt the need to just state the warnings plainly for the sake of her own conscience.

Upon seeing Ginny's face brighten in reaction to his response, all remaining doubt was erased. However, he also recognized her struggle to entirely trust him, which still festered in her gaze. It wasn't an easy thing for her. Understandably so. And, despite the fact that he completely understood the implications in his own involvement, he considered her answer fully. She was merely taking all possible precautions. And he couldn't blame her.
"I understand," he answered softly, assuring her. "My mind is entirely made up." A small smile formed and he leaned forward only slightly, catching her eyes and conveying his complete sincerity. "You can trust me, Ginny."

Ginny's gaze flickered over his a few moments longer before her mouth kicked up at the side.
"Honestly Alex... if I really doubted that we wouldn't be having this conversation now," she admitted with a small shrug. "I'll speak to the others about meeting you and we'll go from there."

Alex returned her smile, "of course." She was ever the careful one. He then nodded, "that sounds good though. How many of you are there?"

"A few," she shrugged as she pushed herself to her feet, shooting him a wry look. "If everyone agrees you'll find out soon enough. Either way, it was nice talking to you Alex... I'll be in touch."

(ror - hpfinalprophecy.proboards.com/thread/5812/alex-ginny ) Ginny let her eyes flicker over him consideringly one last time before giving a nod and moving to exit the corridor, making a beeline for the RoR and the other DA members... they had a lot to discus it seems.

Alex tilted his head as he watched the Gryffindor leave, her steps purposeful and hasty. He inhaled deeply and remained still a moment, considering what he had jut agreed to before smiling, still entirely assured of his decision. Things were going to get very interesting. Standing then, he slung the strap of his bag over his shoulder before exiting the corridor at a leisurely pace.
