Ginny gave a slow nod as she considered his words.
"That's pretty much it in a nut shell," she agreed. "There's only so much we can tell you until you sign the contract to ensure your silence, but I can try and answer a few more questions first if you'd like?"

"Mm," Ginny mused, head nodding slightly in agreement as her eyes shifted to the odd little elf, pattering about in his mismatched socks and terrible knitted hat. "You know I was surprised to still see him here," she commented after a moment. "I thought for certain that Snape wouldn't have indulged him like Dumbledore had... I guess he was to busy selling out his former colleagues to notice something as insignificant as an elf."

Ginny's nose wrinkled as she shot the House elf a fondly exasperated look.
"Partially because of how his old owners used to treat him, conditioned him into believing he's worthless and should be abused," she admitted softly, before shifting her eyes back to Alex and offering him a crooked smile. "But also partially because Dobby's a little eccentric even for a House Elf. The other's don't approve of him much, but Hermione think's he's a forerunner for elvish rights. He's the world's first free and paid House elf."

Ginny chuckled at his comment, eyes watching as the elf darted off before flickering back to the older boy.
"Dobby and I are old friends," she offered with a small shrug, her mouth pulling in a wry smile. "Though I've got to be careful saying that around him or he freaks out and starts slamming his head in the door."

Ginny glanced over at the sound of the door, her face brightening at the sight of the Ravenclaw.
"Alex hey," she greeted him as the boy slipped up into the space next to her. "You want some tea?"
Dobby apparently also had his attention on the newcomer, the eccentric elf positively bounding over to the boy to chatter at him as he offered him just about everything he could think of, most of which were, honestly, not something he would ever have any cause for. But that was just Dobby she guessed.

Ginny allowed herself to be tugged over, shooting him an amused look as he fussed.
"You're like a mother hen at times you know that?" she accused him, though the tone was fond. This was the side of Dean that she had first fallen for after all - sure he could be a bone head at times, but underneath he really was quite sweet, a little suffocating with it, but still, sweet. It was something lacking from people more than ever right now.

Ginny's look turned a bit dryer at Caden's explanation. Aaand there it was. It always came back to that in the end. Either her being a sibling of Ron or Harry's ex. Heaven forbid anyone actually think she'd earn her position through her own hard work or merit.
Offering the boys a wan tilt of her lips, the redhead gestured for Alex to take a seat and join them.
"Is he ever not?" she returned, rhetorically before her gaze shifted back to Caden. "Fine by me. How about you fill me in on what you already know and we go from there?"

*REBOOT*
Ginny offered Dobby a small smile as the excitable elf fussed around her, presenting her with various bits of food and a pot of tea as he blabbered on about Winky, his babysitting duty of Kreacher and the general comings and goings of the kitchen, clearly delighted (violently so before she had calmed him) at her desire to visit him and make sure he was okay. She sat on one of the many high stools that were set around the table as she watched him patter about in his odd socks and SPEW hats, mind fondly remembering Hermione's terrible knitting campaign as he spoke, the other elves giving them a wide berth.

"McIdiot," she returned arms folding under her breasts as she shot the boy a droll look. "And not to deminish your powers of deduction, but really a blind pigmypuff could have seen this one coming."

Godric be damned, she didn't know if she wanted to throttle Alex right now for his boned idea that spurred the mad witch on or if she should be pleased he at least tried, which was more than she had done, instead just flinching away as the spider lost a limb. She felt sick with herself, disgusted.
This wasn't her, this pathetic, selfish snivelling coward was not her/
"Why do we have to torture him?" the words left her throat in a blurt, her expression pulled in upset and anger both as she glared at the woman. "You say they're monsters, that they're dangerous, fine, but why does that mean we need to torture them? If everything you say is right, then we are *better* than they are. Magic gives us the power."

Ginny glanced away at the words, her mirth instantly leaving her as the conflicted feeling of guilt consumed her again.
"Who said I was waiting," she muttered, though it was half under her breath.

She glanced up at the gentle touch, her eyes running over his face, for a moment looking incredibly weary before she forced a smile and lifted a hand to scrub at her features.
"I have to be okay, Dean," she told him with a wry quirk of her lips. "Not being okay is a luxury I can't afford right now... but thanks."

Welcome letter Welcome One and All to Final Prophecy. Here at Final Prophecy we strive to make you a welcomed member to our community. How does FP work? Well in short this is a RP site for Harry Potter fans, though we fully encourage out of character discussion and participation as well. We are unique in that instead of a single site premise, FP is constantly changing plot to keep things fresh and entertaining for our members. How this works is we separate our plots into ‘terms’. Each term will have its own central plot for example; marauders era, canon era, alternate universe, next generation, etc. This will come with its own connected set of canon characters available (and of course original characters very much welcomed) and will run for a specified amount of time usually around 6 months. After this a new term will begin with a new plot and likely a whole new character set to choose from. Don’t like the idea of losing a character you’ve worked hard on? Don’t worry, firstly the estimation for the term length is just that, we never end a term until our members are ready and give people plenty of notice to wrap up their story lines. As for the characters themselves – original characters do not need to be reinvented for each term, if you have a character you like just bring them along to the next! A few tweaks to their history and most can easily adapt to the new timeline. Canons are sadly not as easy due to changing era’s etc, but you can still get around it by playing a family member or someone else similar and chances are that particular canon will crop up again soon even if not the immediate next term. Mostly we find however that our members enjoy the chance to try out playing different characters as this method stops all the popular canons from being constantly taken, if you have your heart set on playing Harry and he’s either already taken or not available this term, don’t worry, you still have the chance to play him again in future. Because of this set up we have two sets of rules, the general rules of conduct which are found in the information center (please read and sign); Link to General Site Ruleshpfinalprophecy.proboards.com/thread/5721/site-rules-readAnd the term specific rules (see below) which give guidelines on behaviour and allowances for this particular term. These are adapted each time to reflect the current situation and characters available. To become a member you first need to visit our Sorting Hat and have yourself assigned a House – please note this is for you the RPer, and has no bearing on your character. This will give you access to your House tower to interact with your Housemates and in the future you will have the chance to earn points and win the site cup. Will you be a cunning Slytherin, a clever Ravenclaw, a loyal Hufflepuff or a brave Gryffindor? Let the hat decide – and remember, it knows when you are lying! Link to the Sorting Hat;hpfinalprophecy.proboards.com/thread/5720/sorting-hatPlease allow for time for the sorting, it will be seen to as quickly as possible but real life commitments may cause the occasional delay. ------ After you are sorted you are invited to sign up for a character in our Role Play section; please make sure to check out the current term premise and term specific rules before you sign up, all of which can be found here; Term specific ruleshpfinalprophecy.proboards.com/thread/5747/term-rules-sign-before-signingTerm premiseCharacter list and canon sign uphpfinalprophecy.proboards.com/thread/5724/year-february-2014-canon-signOC sign uphpfinalprophecy.proboards.com/thread/5725/year-february-2014-character-sign----------- We also offer some non-RP areas for our members to enjoy. Come and read members stories and poems in the Library, take part in games in Hagrid's Hut and chat with your peers in the common room. Please note in these areas you are posting as yourself and not as your character. Many of our members still enjoy posting in the third person in these areas (for instance ; Marah walks into the room and waves to the others’) however it is not compulsory. Ginny glanced up at the sound of the door, her mouth quirking up at the expected sight of Alex with his friend in toe.
"Alex, hey," she greeted him, pushing herself up from her position on the couch, her eyes flicking past him to the other Raven. "And Caden, glad you could make it."

Ginny's eyes flickered over him a beat longer before she shook her head and turned away.
"We all have moment's like that, Dean. Weak moments... but we can't let them consume us, even for a moment. We just can't afford it, the slope's to slippery."

Her expression didn't change as she searched his eyes for a few long, drawn out moments.
"Yes it would," she said at last, voice low but passionate. "Never forget that. The moment we start to think like them, they win, understand? We aren't fighting for ideals any more, we're fighting to keep our humanity. That's what Voldemort wants to take from us. We don't have to be on his side for him to succeed."

Ginny eyed her mice, weighing up the chances of getting in trouble against her hatred of cruelty for a moment before a sudden thought occurred to her, her lips quirking up slightly.
He hadn't specified which kind of acid...
reaching out to capture her mouse, the girl started to cast in earnest, though the only outwards signs of her having any success as her attempts wore on was the little creature appearing to get more and more lethargic.

"Rightey-ho," the Gryffindor offered cheerilly, happy to move away from that last conversation as she gathered up their cups and moved back to refresh them from the pot. "So, you think you can sound out Caden then? See if he's interested? If he is we can arrange somewhere to talk privately."

"Don't be," she insisted, dropping her hand down to reach over and pat his. "I didn't do anything, not really. I have faith in your ability to wind up on the right track whatever happened, even if you don't."
"Now moving on," Ginny ordered, flashing him a brief, still slightly uncomfortable smile as she moved to stand. "First up, more tea?"

Ginny gave a sheepish chuckle at his words, cheeks pinking a little in a blush at the high credit he seemed inclined to give her.
"I don't know if I'm really the one to have done that," she protested shaking her head, hand coming up to take a hold of the back of her neck. "You've always been a good guy Alex, you'd have gotten there in the end - Caden would have dragged you there if nothing else."
She shot him a crooked smile.
"All I did was give you a prod towards the door, thats all."

"War is a wound, doesn't matter what side you're on or how else you look at it, its a big gaping ugly wound," the redhead agreed ruefully, leaning back in her seat, shooting Alex a sidelong look. "Another one of dad's... and thanks. He does... I'm only just seeiing that myself to be honest. Funny how war changes your perspective on everything and everyone. You're right I expect. None of us ever will be the same."
There was a sadness to that really, a whistfulness as she remembered those carefree summers at the Burrow with Harry and Hermione and her brothers. That innocence she had used to hold where all that mattered was house points and winning quidditch and not loosing face in front of the Slytherins. It almost seemed another life time ago. None of them were children any more really. And they never would be again.
"How have you changed?" she asked him at last, glancing over.

Ginny offered him a small slightly wistful smile.
"You're right I guess - my dad always said bravery wasn't about not being scared, bravery was about being the most scared you've ever been and doing the right thing anyway."
Funny how what had seemed like just a sweet, if slightly corny sentiment made to make you feel better as a kid suddenly seemed a lot deeper than she ever gave it credit for when the world all went to hell. Then again, the same could be said for her dad - she'd always thought of him as a sweet, honest, but frankly ineffectual man. Now here he was fighting in the Order next to all the other heros. Deeper than she ever gave him credit for indeed.
"Harry is still fighting the war," she said at last eyes shifting back up to Alexander. "There are things that need done that he has to be in the shadows to do, and thats where he is right now. So we let the Death Eaters jeer and say he's run away, we do what we can to draw their attention to us or act like we're loosing hope, but he is absolutely still part of the resistance, and when he's ready he'll show back up."
"He will come through," the words were spoken with conviction, Ginny's face calm and a small fond quirk of her lips as her mind turned towards her ex. "Cockroach blood him. Couldn't be killed even if he wanted to."
It was a flip reply, but a joke that the DA clung too - and really with his monsterous luck it wasn't a far cry from the truth. Every one needed their hope after all.
"But yeah," she added eyes shifting back to Alex's. "No matter what happens, we don't give up. We'll do whatever we can to keep our humanity."

"No," she insisted, tone stubborn. "Tell me. What 'but' Dean?"
